Now you see it...
Eagle eyed visitors might have noticed a post yesterday in which I mentioned my 11th hit of the year. It turned out to be the hit that wasn't. A magazine who I'd had a story accepted by a few weeks ago sent me a contract for the wrong story, which made me think I'd had another one accepted. So I deleted the post here immediately.
This blog is syndicated to Amazon and Facebook. Unfortunately the original post, vaunting this 11th hit, is still up on my Amazon Connect page and I don't know how to delete them from that page as it's not actually posted there. It's an RSS feed.
All is not lost re my story. The magazine haven't (yet) rejected the second story, and I've been told it's gone on to be read by someone higher up the chain of command, which is a bit hopeful, even though there are still no guarantees.
Friends have asked if I'm annoyed at the mix-up. I admit to feeling very disappointed yesterday but there's no point in getting annoyed. I'd only alienate myself from a magazine and editor with whom I'm trying to build up a good working relationship. Also, it proves that whilst we may see editors as some great, all-knowing, all-powerful beings, it's rather nice to find out that actually they're human beings who make mistakes just as we do.

Oh what a shame :o( But there's stil hope for that story so fingers crossed.
Yep, I know what you mean about editors getting it wrong occasionally. When a print mag emailed me this year to tell me they'd accepted my flash for publication they inserted a story title I didn't recognise in the 'congratulations' email. I assumed they'd sent me the email by mistake but, when I opened the attached contract there was my name and the correct title of my flash. Which was a relief.
